Boutique Lodges
East Africa is home to a selection of small and intimate safari lodges that offer exclusivity and personalised attention. Each has an individual style and character and is hosted, often by the owners. Well off the beaten track, they are located on expansive private conservation areas or in prime spots in game parks and reserves throughout East Africa. These exclusive destinations usually have less than 10 en-suite rooms and all are fully staffed, including resident guides who know their area well. Each chef has their own flair and style and the fine cuisine is served either in dinner party style around a single table or privately. As each has a unique setting, the activities on offer are varied, including day and night game drives, guided bush walks, horse and camel riding, swimming pool, spa, boat rides and community activities.

Permanent Tented Camp
East Africa Safari Ventures has hand picked the smallest, more intimate permanent tented camps, which usually have fewer than 10 guest tents, to give you the traditional experience of sleeping under canvas whilst making your stay very comfortable with a range of modern facilities. Tented Camps provide the visitor with large walk in tents, complete with beds and furniture, en-suite bathroom with supplied water, showers and flush toilets. Most have a central mess tent, with a fully stocked bar and meals are a social event where you can interact with other guests at the camp. Levels of luxury in tented camps vary from the functional through to luxurious, with many of the larger tents offering the standard of accommodation one would expect at a boutique lodge. Tented camps can be found in many of East Africa’s National Parks and Reserves, as well as on private game ranches and sanctuaries.

Mobile camps
Mobile tented camping is ideal for groups looking for total exclusivity and a more unique experience – your own private camp and staff that moves with you on your safari. Camps vary in standard starting from quite basic lightweight tents or ‘fly-camps’ for adventurous exploring to remote areas and hiking, walking, horseback and camel safaris, where the camp can be moved on a nightly basis. At the other end of the spectrum, luxury mobile tented camps consist of large en-suite guest tents with electric lighting, full length beds with soft duvet bedding and a range of well thought out touches, where you stay in camp in one area for a few nights and then, whilst the staff move camp to a new safari area, you will stay at one of the boutique lodges for a night or two.
