Having grown up and completed his education in the Greater Mara area, Rinka developed a love for nature and the wildlife which surrounded him.
‘Rinka’ has been a part of our safari family for more than 10 years and joined us as a spotter in our permanent camp, supporting guides on game drives to find certain animals. It soon became clear that he had a good understanding of wild animals and their habits and could find and identify wildlife in the distance with just his naked eye. He went on to become our ‘Walking Guide’ before completing his guiding exams to obtain his full bronze Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association qualification and more recently Kenya’s Field Guide Certification.
He brings with him a sense of fun and adventure to safaris, not to mention a wisdom and knowledge of wildlife and ecosystems. Rinka is a keen conservationist who works within his community to create awareness around issues of wildlife conservation, land management and ecotourism. His passion for his Maasai ancestry, coupled with his ability to transcend cultures, allows his guests to fully engage with the local communities and understand from the ground up some of the issues they face.
