Tanzania: Migration Camp – Lamai & Kusini

At over 15,000 square kilometres in size and playing host to The Great Wildebeest Migration throughout the year, the Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania is the home of Osero Camps, our tented camps that put you in the heart the wildebeest herds on their never ending journey.

Migration Camp – Northern & Southern Serengeti

In the Serengeti, location is everything! Our Migration Camps are based in two private campsites that have been carefully chosen to give you the best that the Serengeti has to offer, right from the verandah of your tent.

  • Migration Camp, North: The camp is nestled all year round in the heart of Lamai, offering you the splendor of the Northern Serengeti with its secluded remoteness and magnificent resident wildlife. From July to October, the Migration explodes back and forth across the majestic Mara River close to the camp. In this area, you can watch the herds build up as they edge closer to the riverbanks before finally taking the plunge and swimming to the opposite bank.
  • Migration Camp, South: From December to March, our luxury mobile camp overlooks the short grass plains of Kusini, in the southern Serengeti. From this remote location, you can witness the massing of herds as we enter the calving season of the migration, where close to 500,000 young wildebeest are born each year.

In both locations resident game abounds, including all the main predator and scavenger species.

Migration Camp, North & South is available on a exclusive or shared basis and can accommodate up to 18 guests in 7 standard and 1 family, custom-made safari tents. Our spacious, well-appointed tents all have private verandahs with views over the Serengeti wilderness and en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilets and hot ‘safari’ showers. The common areas include separate dining and lounge/bar tents, with a campfire close by and an ever-attentive team of staff ready to look after your every need, providing personalised service throughout your stay.
