Tanzania: Osero Camp

At over 15,000 square kilometres in size and playing host to The Great Wildebeest Migration throughout the year, the Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania is the home of Osero, our tented camp that follows the wildebeest herds on their never ending journey.

Osero Seasonal Camp – Serengeti

In the Serengeti, location is everything! Osero’s time is split between two private campsites that have been carefully chosen to give you the best that the Serengeti has to offer, right from the verandah of your tent.

  • From June to October, the camp is nestled on the edge of an acacia woodland in Lamai, a short drive from the main crossing points of the Mara River in the northern Serengeti. In this area, you can watch the herds build up as they edge closer to the riverbanks before finally taking the plunge and swimming to the opposite bank.
  • From December to March, the camp overlooks the short grass plains of Kusini, in the southern Serengeti. From this remote location, you can witness the massing of herds as we enter the calving season of the migration, where close to 500,000 young wildebeest are born each year.

In both locations resident game abounds, including all the main predator and scavenger species.

Osero is available on a exclusive or shared basis and can accommodate up to 15 guests in 7 luxury, custom-made safari tents. Our spacious, well-appointed tents all have private verandahs with views over the Serengeti wilderness and en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers. The common areas include separate dining and lounge/bar tents, with a campfire close by and an ever-attentive team of staff ready to look after your every need, providing personalised service throughout your stay.
