Lewa Marathon 2021 Success

The EASV Team, Running Wild for Rhinos, did it! We met all of our Lewa Virtual Marathon 2021 Goals and much more.

Joe (and Rey!) made it over the finish line in under 4 hours (3’55”), beating his previous years’ time.

Kian, Thomas, Mwangaza and Ben managed to do their 10km in 59 minutes and 30 seconds, beating their goal of one hour.

The Hoffmans in Holland cycled 101 kms in 5 hours and 13 minutes.

Total raised: $5070. A big thanks to all who have supported us!

You can find out more about the team here in our earlier blog.

Following the event, Tusk released a press statement: “Across Africa, the UK and USA, and from as far afield as Serbia, India and Russia, 1,425 runners have taken part to date, raising or donating much needed funds in support of Tusk’s work, and clocking up an incredible 22,619Km between them. Including sponsorship from the physical event’s loyal sponsors Safaricom Plc and Huawei, this year’s event has so far raised approximately £250,000 ($350,000). All funds will go towards the recovery from the destruction that Covid-19 has brought on wildlife and local communities in Kenya.

East Africa Safari Ventures and the whole team are proud to have been a part of this amazing fundraising event for the second year in a row.
